There's a moment in motherhood when love demands letting go.

We spend years holding on—cradling babies, grasping tiny fingers as toddlers find their footing, pulling children into our arms when they need comforting—and then, almost without warning, it’s time to let go...

💕

...and I am reminded that surrender—letting go of our children, and trusting God with their futures—is not a one-time act. It’s a posture.

It's the National Day of Prayer - and while you're praying for our leaders and our country, why not take a few minutes to pray for your family?

If you've been around this space for more than a minute (or if you've read "Praying the Scriptures for Your Children"), you know that I spend some time, every December, thinking about each of my kids and where they are spiritually, socially, physically, emotionally, intellectually - you get the idea - and I ask God what he might want to do in their lives. And then I go poking around in my Bible & when I find a verse that seems to fit that particular need, I personalize it as a prayer. I trace the kids' hands on a piece of colored paper, write the prayer on the palm, and laminate the whole thing. And I commit to praying that specific prayer all year long.

This year, December was in the rearview mirror by the time I began to focus on an annual prayer, but I managed to pick verses by Easter. (Which is the beauty of this particular prayer strategy - you can do it any time!)

And, truth be told, the little hands in this post don't belong to my kids. Their hands are too big 😉, so I've pivoted to the grandchildren.

Of course, we hadn't yet met the newest team member (born 4.19.26) when I was tracing everyone's little fingers, so he didn't get a hand. He got a duck. 😊

If your kids or your grandkids don't live nearby, don't worry about tracing their hands. Give them a duck. Or a flower. Or a rectangular bookmark, if that's all the crafty you've got.

But pray for your people - today and every day. God loves it when we come to him with the names and the needs of the people we love...and he is able to do "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine." 💕

Favorite takeaway: You can't feel your way into a new way of thinking and acting. You need to act - celebrating even when that feels risky or hard - and the feelings will follow.

Celebrating the life and legacy of Lisa Robertson with her beautiful daughters on the new set of @heavenearthshow with host @abigailcbn & with @lysaterkeurst & friends at @museumofbible. Takeaways include: 1) Everyone you interact with today needs the love of Jesus 💕, 2) when you are hurting or disappointed, don't chase answers; chase the love of God, and 3) if you visit the museum, you can get "reminder" nail polish in several shades - I chose "abide"! 💅
