Why I Like Praying the Scriptures
Praying for a Prodigal
Your kids are never out of God’s Reach
Whether it’s in the beach bag or on the bedside table, I always keep a few books close at hand. Here are a few from the stack I am currently loving.
31 Days of Praise, by Ruth Myers
Praise shifts our perspective, even in the midst of life’s most painful or discouraging seasons. With a strong foundation in Scripture, each day’s devotion opens a new door to adoration, gently leading us into the awesome and loving presence of God.
A Mother’s Heart, by Jean Fleming
This classic was my go-to parenting book for years! With wisdom and tenderness, Fleming helps us recognize and appreciate how our children are wired, identifying traits and values that matter as we discover what our role is as a mom (and what stuff is best left to God).
Joy in the Morning, by P.G. Wodehouse
P.G. Wodehouse has been called “the greatest comic writer ever.” I love ALL of his books, but Joy in the Morning (with its nod to Psalm 30:5) just might be my favorite. Not yet a Wodehouse fan? Think Downton Abbey, only wittier and a lot more redeeming!
Don’t Mom Alone Podcast – Praying the Scriptures
There is not a need we will face in parenting that God has not already anticipated—and provided for—in his Word. Join host Heather MacFadyen and me on the Don’t Mom Alone podcast as we talk about God’s faithfulness to our families. (And buckle up cuz this one’s got Scripture galore…and it’s all in the show notes!)
Proverbs 31 Ministries – The Power of Praying the Scriptures
If you could ask God to do anything for your family, what would it be? That’s the question that launched the Praying the Scriptures book series—and the more we tether our prayers to God’s promises, the more our requests will line up with what God already wants to do!
FOX News – The most incredible Christmas mistake I ever made
Sometimes even the most lavish, creative, or well-intentioned presents can fall flat, but there’s one gift we can give our children that’s always a winner! (And P.S., it won’t break the bank!)
Focus on the Family – Trusting God With Your Adult Child
Jodie shares stories about praying about her son’s anger issues, how a friend learned to love her cohabitating daughter rather than condemn her, and what it means to grow your own faith despite whatever lifestyle choices your adult kids make.
